Ugg hate when parents asking in an accusatory fashion when stuff like this is occurs ~ I get they need to find the 'root cause' but there are POLITE ways to do it where the provider does not end up feeling attacked or accused of something ... you know like 'Hey I noticed that little Johnny is getting a diaper rash ~ we have not introduced any new foods or anything and wanted to double check if he has anything new in daycare or if you had any other ideas what might cause a diaper rash cause this is his first one? .... no blame there just a information gathering question that is using the provider as a 'resource' not a blame box!

This was my first thought too ~ my understanding of our biology is that during teething the body naturally produces increased acidity in salvia to help new teeth 'break through' the gums ... saliva than gets swallowed by children for some children they do not react to this at all for others this changes their stomach acidity which makes both urine and poops more acidic as well causing looser stools and diaper rashes.

For some children juice, certain fruits and combinations of foods has the same problem ~ increases the level of stomach acid and therefore that gets passed over in their urine and poop and if they have sensitive skin to boot diaper rashes.
