What should I do?

I have two daycare boys that I have been in my care since sept. I have them from 5:30 a.m to 5- 5:30 p.m part time maybe 9 times a month. Their last daycare provider terminated them two weeks before school due to the lack of time they are there. The youngest is 2 and is quite the challenge some days but the last two days have been horrible.

They usually go. Back to sleep after drop off yesterday the 2yr old screamed for 20 mins and woke everyone up and then slept maybe an hour after drop off. At 12 when we had lunch he didn't want to eat and asked to go to bed. I put him down he slept 2 hours woke up miserable. We went to go pick up his brother at school and got back was was screaming and miserable until dad picked up just after 5.

Today he came in crying,screaming,yel ling with dad. I asked dad how he was last night I was told he was fine. I told him yesterday about the day I had with him dad said nothing. I put him to bed where he got out of bed and scream,kicked,and hit the door and again woke everyone up. My kids are exhausted, I'm exhausted and at my whits end. He has time outs on the stairs once he stops crying he comes back to play. But it is starting to affect the other daycare kid. In going to talk to the parents. What should I say?

I would not do this at all. First of all I don't open until 7:30, second my maximum daily time with children is 9 hours, third, you are never going to get children to settle into any kind of routine when they are only with you 9 times a month. If I were you I would find a different family. Children need to be with their parents. Do these parents ever see their children? Of course they would be unhappy little people!

Yikes I would never do this either ..... When I first started I had a wee one from 630-6 one to four days a week .... It was awful .... Even though she did go right to sleep when she got here and slept for the first 2.5 hours but I still had to get up and she was here almost 12 hours ... So now she's gone and I will never take a client like that again especially cause they take a full time spot but they never want to pay full time fees.

Advertise and find two new families that want normal hours every day. Good luck

you have them too early and for too long! I had a little one from 6:30 to 6:30 for about 3 years and when she left, I was so relieved. She was also a "hand full" to top it off. It is enough to take a great child early in the am, but to start your day with one that gives you trouble? that's a recipe for disaster. If you can, advertise for replacement or just give notice. change your hours to a more reasonable time, and either ask them to find a way to work with your new hours or just let them go...you will be amazed how great you feel after you do it! take care

The screaming at dropoff would be grounds for termination given that it is disruptive to your own family.
