I'am in Ottawa and charge $35 a day, with 2 weeks paid vacation a year and all stats. parents don't pay if I take a day off/sick days..I've never had any complaints and some parents actually tell me I deserve to get paid 2 weeks for my vacation.
In my area, rates are up to $42 a day, with all stats, paid vacation with personal days and sick days.
