    What would you charge for half day?

    I just received an inquiry from dcp who is looking for care for half a day, 8am-12pm. As the child would only be here for morning snack I am wondering how much I should reduce my fee? I charge $30/day for full day and was thinking $20 would be reasonable... What do you guys think?

    are you feeding them both a AM snack and Lunch or us an AM snack?
    are you going to be doing crafts or be outside all morning?

    Snack + Lunch = $6.00/day
    Snack = $2.00/day
    Lunch = $3.00/day
    Crafts = $2.00/day

    So if Snack,Lunch and crafts you will be spending around $8.00/day/child
    $20 - $8 = $12 left as income

    Snack and crafts = $4.00/day
    $20 - $4 = $16 left as income

    $20 isn't too bad. But I wouldn't go any lower myself

    I charge 20. We dont' want to do part time so we dont' make it a reasonable number.

    I do $20 for a half day but hours have to fall between 7:30-12pm or 12:30 to 5pm. $20 is flat rate whether it is an hour or four.

    I just had someone inquire about half days, and I turned them down as I am not willing to do them right now. It was a one year old, and they only needed afternoons. That seemed like it may be a pretty difficult transition period, only a few afternoons a week.
    Having said that, I think $20 per day is pretty reasonable, based on your full day rate, and the fact that you are not providing lunch. It has to be worthwhile!!

    I agree, 20 is reasonable. I charge 25 for my part days, but my full day fee is 35.

    I used to offer 1/2 days at $25, but I serve lunch at 11:30ish so there would be two meals included in those hours so I think your quote of $20 is very reasonable.
