    Update

So yesterday was my first day and I posted about wanting to term a family just because the b&a is so much work. I was so close to doing it and realized that I will give it a few more days and see how it goes. I don't think I am being fair to me or the family. I am new at this and part of my frustration is my learning curve and that this is a hard job. Got called a "babysitter" yesterday which was nice, heh heh. Wish me luck.

B & A is the hardest in my opinion. I had 2 kids that age for 3 months and had to let them go. It almost drove me to quit as well, but once I replace them with all little ones my days were so much smoother. I just cannot take the attitude and entitlement that the school agers seems to have. They quite literally almost drove me nuts lol. Good luck with whatever decision you make. Only you know how much you can handle.

P.S. Being called a babysitter comes with the job unfortunately. I usually remind those families/people that a babysitter would be at their house, eating their food, using their hydro/gas/water and probably their internet while their children watched tv. Generally, they never say it again

I do sometimes care for B & A kids but I make it clear that I do not walk them to and from the bus or school, I say the parent must make arrangements for this at ALL TIMES

Yeah, have the kid all day today as it's a pd day. Thankfully I overheard this at pick up because the mom had no clue. I think I would enjoy my day much more without the b&a but I also worry about my reputation as a caregiver as this is my first family. The kids are also extremely picky eaters which I don't "do." I tried getting them to give input into creating a meal plan but there were few ideas and everything I suggested was "yucky."

I don't mean to brag, heh heh but my kids are really well behaved and it is hard getting these kids with I'll behaviour. They weren't horrible there are just some issues e.g potty talk, I'll manners, ignoring, picky eating and then the sibling dynamic. My husband talked me out of terming them because they are my first and he wonders if I am just going to find something "wrong" with the next ones.

I hope you have a trial period in your contract so that if it does not seem to be working out, you can terminate without notice. I agree with your husband in one way...it will be hard in the beginning no matter what age of kids you take. However, on the other side, I would not be putting up with any bad behaviour either from a school-aged child. Not only will it stress you out, but it might start to rub off on your own kids.
