    Grumpy Old Men

Is it in their genetic makeup or a male hormonal thing? Why do men hit a certain age and get so grumpy. I recall both my dad and step dad being this way, and now that my husband is in his 40s I see the same thing happening. He's so grumpy!

I feel like I should just stop talking sometimes. He either doesn't hear me (he does have a hearing problem...which makes him grumpy!), doesn't understand me (it's like we speak different languages) or I'm clearly interrupting something far more interesting.

Sorry, I guess this is just a vent. I'm not a blabber or a nagger, but sometimes there are just things to be said and I usually end up feeling like I should have just kept it to myself...bad feeling when it's something important or something about our kids.

When he's not grumpy he's awesome......WHEN he's not grumpy. But, it's like walking on eggshells sometimes to make sure he stays not grumpy!

I've always sworn that men have a monthly hormone cycle they just don't menstruate. So maybe they go through menopause in their 40's too. What do you think? Sound like a good theory? I hope he gets through menopause quickly for you gcj. Hugs!

Read men are from mars, women from venus. I read this years ago and had sooooooo many aha moments. They really do hear things differently.

Men do go through some sort of mid life crisis around 40. Not sure what the medical reasoning for it is but the good news is that it does pass and they become civil again - kinda like we say with the toddlers - and yes that is how they act sometimes - this stage too shall pass.

Shhhhhhh! Don't ever tell a man this, but their testosterone levels are falling just like our estrogen levels fall as we get older. It's normal.
