Will he wear gloves? I had a little one that had hand surgery a while ago. We put gloves on him so he wouldn't pull at the bandaids and it worked well. Just a thought...

DaycareLady, I will be curious to hear what they end up saying for you I have celiac, although never had skin issues..... keep in mind, that the screening test is not always accurate. I know of multiple people, including myself, who had negative or inconclusive bloodwork, but positive biopsies. And countless more who are not "celiac" but have adverse reactions to gluten. As my Dr says, clinical trials are often far more conclusive than any lab results! Good luck!

I did ask mom if she noticed any triggers, and she just spoke of him scratching making it worse. And she has similar skin and says it just "acts up" more at times.

I, personally feel that there is a food trigger. When our body can't handle something it can show in many different ways. The skin talking like that is saying something more than just what's showing. If it were my child they would be on an elimination diet, for sure. But, that's my own beliefs.....can't force that upon anyone.

If the doctor said it's viral, it could be Hand Foot and Mouth disease. My kids had it last spring and it took 3 doctors to get it diagnosed properly. The first two also said it was "viral", but weren't specific. if it is viral, that means it is contagious. Did the child have a fever before the blisters broke out? Sore throat?
I didn't know excema could cause blisters...this thread has been informative in a disgusting way

He had no fever. No sore throat. No sores on nor near his mouth. None on his feet. I didn't know eczema could cause blisters, either, but I googled it and although I was kind of sorry I did.......I learned that it can.

This same boy did have Hand Foot Mouth earlier in the year.

I still feel that there's a deeper cause of eczema.

Eczema is often linked to allergies and stress. For me the cold/dry air triggers it, I am very sensitive to detergents and soaps and I just recently found out some herbal teas will trigger it too. If you are confident it is eczema then there is nothing to worry about. It just SUCKS !

His parents aren't worried, nor am I. Really just grossed out and feeling bad for him. His mom came and got him after lunch today since she knew it was really sore today. They're one of those good families!

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
