    What if?

Have you ever had a parent decide last minute they want care after all for the day? I only have one family (just started my daycare 2 wks a go) and they let me know they don't require care for for Mon-Wed this wk (still required to pay). I had this weird thought this morning as I let my girls and I sleep in. What if he was to show up and say he wants care after all today? Are you and your playroom/program always at the ready? I didn't do any of my daycare chores this weekend knowjng they weren't coming e.g vacuum/mop. He is paying for the day so it wouldn't feel kosher to tell him "no." I know I am planning for something that may never happen hut I don't like getting caught off guard.

I figured if I was home (e.g didn't make other plans) I would tell them I needed an hour to set up but wanted to know if anyone has encountered this or what would you do?

IF they were my only kids in care they, yes, I would have a problem with it. If a parent said the kid was not coming then I would have other plans for the day. It's no different than if you had a special event or craft planned for the day. If a parent had told you the child was not coming you would not have necessarily bought supplies for that child.

However, I am always full so even if a child is not coming I am still open and ready to go. I never have a day "off" that wasn't scheduled by me. Sigh......now, that would be nice!

I agree with Judy .... I would be a miracle if all my kids were absent the same day however if they wrre goi g to be the only daycare family in attendance that day I would let them know to please let you know by 8pm the night before if they change their minds. That way you can plan your day !

yeah, I mean you could have even decided to go away and not be there. So, it's their loss. Hypothetically speaking, of course. I don't think that they can EXPECT you to be ready and willing....
