    Reciepts???

    Hi everyone
ive been doing daycare for three yrs now and this is the first yr doing reciepts. One parent asked me for my sin # and business name on the receipts. Should i put my sin number on the reciept? I dont like giving that info out.

This is one of those things that we are required to do by the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency), but that many people don't put on their receipts unless requested by the CRA for auditing purposes.
If you go on the CRA website there is a section that pertains to home daycares and they give an example of how a receipt should look like. HTH.

I personally put it on my receipts, even though I don't like it. You can also get a BIN and put that on your receipt instead.

Why is this your first year doing reciepts? You do realize the previous years you are legally required to. Either way, check out the cra website. As far as I know, you do have to provide your sin. I do with all my reciepts.

I don't put it on my receipts......what if they loose one. Then that could be dangerous. Ask your accountant. They CRA will tell you what they want you to do (it may not always be in your best interest) if my parents get audited then I can certainly give them a copy of my SIN number but unless that happens I never put it on a receipt :-)

I started out doing daycare for people i knew and got stuck by either go to work and work to pay daycare or stay home on one income. Most of them were friends of my family. I have learned the hard way about taking friends kids!. This yr its all people that ive found online/postings.

that reciept on the website is just an example. As long as you have your name and whats it for then its fine. I even have parents who use their duplicate cheques to file with (I don't know why they do this considering i give them reciepts) I have never handed anyone my sin number.

You should be careful about admitting that you didn't provide receipts on an open forum, that's dangeroud and illegal. We have to declare our income.

I don't put my SIN on the receipts or anywhere else for the families but I would be happy to provide it to CRA if they ever need it.

I've seen people on kijijji advertise that if you pay one price you dont get a reciept and if you pay another price you get a reciept.

Whether you give receipts or not the parents can still claim what they paid and if they put your name down as the person that they paid the money to then Revenue Canada can come looking for you to pay taxes appropriately up to seven years after the fact.
