Family that makes me LOVE my job!

So, I've had this little boy in my care for just over 2 months now.... When I signed him I was SO hesitant. He has never been babysat before, mom still rock's him to sleep for naps and at night.... Plus she was looking for 2-3 months part time before starting full time since she didn't have a job yet....
BUT, at the interview, when I saw my boy play with her's.. ( they are 1 month appart) I could not say no.... And I'm SO glad!

Little boy's integration was a little bit '' rocky'' he SCREAMS when I put him down for naps... cries for a good hour when mommy drops him off... wont play with the other children and would hit the other children.....
After 2 months, he still cries a little when it's nap time but only 15 minutes ( HUGE improvement from the 45-60 minutes screams....) He doesn't cry at drop off anymore and is a great sharer!!!

Mom keeps on trowing flowers at me... On how great I am with her son and how much she can see a difference in attitude at home all ready and see how much he has ''grown''.

Also, she is always on time, I don't have to remind her when is pay day.... and the only time she was ''late'' ( a big 5 minutes) she called me an hour before because she knew she would be stuck longer in trafic.

It feels AWESOME!!! If every family were like this... I would be in HEAVEN!

thanks for sharing your happy story. There are lots of great parents out there and I have been lucky with most of them. It is always the annoying ones we lament about.

Aren't the great clients wonderful? I have been mostly blessed with great families in the pst 5 years and I feel so lucky. The last family I just signed told me that when they called my current clients for references they couldn't say enough good things about me and it made me so happy. But I wish they would say those things to me, you know? It's rare that people do that. I mean they say thanks every day and we chat and I know they are happy and satisfied but I would love for them to tell me they adore me, haha!

As much as we try to screen families and kids, we can still be surprised...pleasant ly or not! I once took on a family because I HAD to. I didn't want to...the visit was immediately after a family that I wanted SO bad....also the only family to ever turn me down! So, during the visit, I wasn't into it, then was in a situation where I felt I had to choice. 4 years later, they are awesome. I'm now with their second child. Our entire families have become friends, and we even mix business with pleasure on occasion. They've had us over for dinner and we've spent days off at the beach together!

Thanks for these stories ! We need to talk about these great families too Eversince I have let one family go, I can say that ALL my remainning families are FANTASTIC. They are supportive, they show appreciation and that takes a lot of pressure off when you KNOW the families you work with are happy with the services you provide. I hope they have MORE kids and never ever move so I can keep them forever !!! hahaha

It is kind of funny, but sometimes I have found that the families I am most unsure about end up to be the most appreciative I have one who I took against my instincts, thought many times I had made a mistake, but the parent has always been respectful of me and my policies and often tells me those golden words we all want to hear "I appreciate what you do and I am so thankful for what you have done for my child". It makes the struggle with the child worth it because I know it is noticed and appreciated.

NOT trying to be a buzz-killer here. I am happy you have a normal, stand-up family in care. BUT, they are supposed to do those things. Sorry, but being on time and paying on time just makes you a normal family.

I sometimes think we put parents on a pedestal because they simply do their jobs. And, sadly, that just shows us how many parents are not even doing the simple things like pay on time or pick up on time.
