Thanks for being here
I have been a daycare provider for a very long time. Having stumbled upon this site by accident, I am thrilled. Now when I have a bad day, well there it is, some one has actually gone through something similar and better yet ADVICE. Amazing I tell you simply amazing. Disagreeable parents, bad mannered children, messy house, picky eaters and even feeling frumpy. Thank you, all you wonderful people, thank you, for making me feel better and for helping me realize that I do make a difference. Thank you for making me feel not so alone, even if most of you are in Ontario. I hail from Saskatchewan. I still have alot to learn, so off to read some more.

I owe a lot of my success to this webiste. I have had tons of great advice on this website and I also appreciate all the difference in opinions. You feel better knowing there not just ONE way of doing things and getting results.
This job is very isolating ... at least for me it is. The only outting I do is when we walk to get the mail so ... Love that I can take a break on here.

I can never say it enough, thank you.
Right now I am having trouble with a family.
The problem is not with the child, the problem is the disrespect from the parents.
They have been late paying me, have not paid the full amount, the drop off time is 6am and sometimes they do not show up, even though they know that I get up early just for them. A few days ago the dcd was disrespectful when I called to ask if their child would be at my home the next day. Because of his attitude I told them I was not available for today. I do not want this family in my home anymore. Any advice on how to handle this? Oh yeah they live across the street from me, a busy street but still across the street.

I would replace then terminate. It will be hard with them across the street, but you don't need to be treated this way and shouldn't put up with it. I would remind them that they signed your contract and that you do have the right to take them to court or have a collections agency get the money they owe you.
If you don't I would also start charging a late payment fee from here on in. Mine is $10/day (this includes the weekend). They also can not bring their child until all fees are paid in full.

I would give them a written warning that you will be forced to terminate care if the issues are not resolved immediately (list the specific issues and how they need to be resolved). Warn them that any future infractions will lead to immediate termination. Good luck!
And, this forum has taught me ever so much as well...I owe a lot of my success to all the ladies here who give fantastic advice and support

Starting to feel at home...
You know what? I always find that the parents are much harder to deal with than the children
