    St. Patricks Day Craft

Any cool ideas that have worked for you before? I know google and pinterest are there at my disposal however I find tried and test ideas (for our age group) so much better.

We will be doing the green food thing, wearing green, a scavenger hunt. Need a craft.

St. Patrick's day is sort of iffy - it isn't really a holiday but this year I decided to do some stuff for it for the first time.

I cut a green pepper in half and had the kids dip it in green paint and it made a giant shamrock stamp. It worked really well with the kids 18 months +

I think later this week I will cut a leprechaun (Sp??) hat and let the kids decorate it with St. patrick's day stickers.

Oh and I printed off a clover on paper for each child, then put a squirt of yellow and blue paint on it and let the kids fingerpaint the clover. As they swirled the paint around it turned the clover green so it was kind of a 2 - in -1 craft. We did St Patrick's Day and colour mixing in one craft.

Friday we are going to eat rainbow-coloured goldfish snacks and fruit kabobs using fruits from every colour of the rainbow.....
We will also have cupcakes with green icing and I am going to put mini M&Ms on top to make it look like a rainbow.

    Then on to Easter.

And why do all these holidays cost extra time and money?

I bought fruitloops which I never feed the children but they are going to glue a rainbow onto cardstock. I bought big foam shaped shamrocks at the dollar store and we're going to glue on googly eyes, pompom nose and pipecleaner smile and tape it onto a straw. Cut the end off a green pepper and dip it into paint to make shamrock stamps, let it dry, add leprachaun stickers from the dollar store.

Several years ago I googled and found some shamrock games that I use every year where the children pick the shamrocks then the leprechaun comes and they trade for the pot of gold so it's a hands on game that they will play over and over.

Here's my song to the tune of I'm a Little Teapot

I'm a little leprechaun dressed in green
The tiniest man that you will ever see
If you ever cath me so it's told
I'll give you my pot of gold.

Can you tell I'm Irish? Haha!

Of course we all dress in green and eat all green food and our party is this Friday.
