The holding and small amounts of soiling concern me. When my son was doing this very thing, we were told that he had encopresis. Encopresis may end up resulting in a "clean out" in the hospital if it becomes severe enough. It can also damage nerves, and then children have difficulty with soiling themselves because they honestly can't feel it happen sometimes.
