I could see using something like this for daytime while you can supervise to give the baby the feeling of being in a sling without you actually having to hold them. But I would be very concerned about a child sleeping in one due to suffication issues. Certainly anything past the newborn stage ie some babies can roll onto their side by a couple months and that could have them trapped against the sides. We aren't even supposed to use bumper pads in a big crib anymore for that reason.
I feel the same way, it gave me goose bumps thinking of possible suffocation but would be great to use for naptime in the day in place of a swing. As long as there close.
