If you have had the child since he was a year and this is a new problem then you are dealing with something bigger than broken toys in that that is the result not the problem so until the problem is dealt with the toy issue will remain and negative behaviour may escalate. Child is angry about something and more likely something at home than at daycare so you will need to work with the parents to find out what is going on. It is probably something that has happened or is happening and not something specific they can put their finger on. Try to remember the week it started and go from there - did the parents sort the toy box and give away his baby toys, did they rearrange his room and change out his comforter for a new one ( same as getting rid of something from his babyhood), no longer using a booster seat, did a new daycare child start, a daycare child start to walk or no longer take a morning nap, even giving him things for big kids but having him play in an area alone to keep the things from the babies can seem like a punishment to the older child as in being sent away rather than a positive perk.
