DCG showed up in SWEATER

So I had my new DCG show up in a SWEATER this morning. I told dad it's a bit cold outside still and that we have to do two bus runs and we also play outside daily, and he replies that it's actually pretty warm out. I check the weather and it was 2 degrees this morning. Ummm no, it's not warm enough for a SWEATER.

Going to be sending out an email today, typically I tell parents that snowsuits stay on until its about 10 degrees out...is that reasonable? Was also going to offer the option of the kids keeping their snowsuits here and they can do the car ride in something lighter if parents are no longer needing the snowsuits...

Two of my dcks would show up in only sweaters in the winter all the time. Parents chose to leave their snow suits here at dc even though I insisted a couple of times that they may want to put them in their jackets at least....they always said "it's just in and out of the car to the house" so I never forced the issue even though it irked me! They still leave their snowsuits here for when we go out to the parks, but if they didnt and continued to just bring them in sweaters I would definitely ask that they either dress them appropriately for the weather, or leave warmer attire at dc for outings.

It was chilly this morning. Just a sweater? That's someone wishing for spring to arrive

I'm lucky! All of my kids came in boots and had snow pants with them today. 2 of them forgot gloves.... lol... but I'm sure it was an oversight. I'd perfer they forgot a glove then wore a sweater.

I'd be sending an email too. I may not have let the child stay without a coat if I had to do 2 walks to a bus. The wind is cold out there.

Luckily I've kept all my kids snowsuits, exactly for this purpose. So will be using them today but still had to go fetch them.

I am getting tempted to leave the snow suits off in the afternoon. Very tempted. Yesterday one of my neighbours saw us playing in the front yard and asked why we still have snowsuits on all the kids and I said because it is still muddy and damp everywhere and the snowsuits protect them too.

Better safe than sorry but I am counting the days I tell ya.

I don't think it is sweater weather yet. I hope they had an extra layer at your house or in their backpack.

We're getting close for sure, just not quite yet. It's a bit chilly still and considering there is still plenty of snow here, a dinky, super thin sweater is not gonna cut it. I have some spares she can use for today, luckily.

I still put them in their snow pants and boots, because it is too wet. The jacket I leave off. Hats I play it by ear.

Well I have been using splash pants and jackets for my own kids. They are thick and lined so still warm but not as much as a snow suit. I find the snow suits to warm when the sun is shinning on us. Definitely not sweater warm however. I have a little girl show up in a plastic rain jumpsuit style no lining nothing. I thought that was not warm enough so I'll be using a jacket and extra pants under it. I guess we all have different tolerance for the weather but my parents know we are going out and getting wet. No matter what the child is wearing. Of course I use my own judgment but we still need to get the parents cooperation if it's becoming a problem.

I did read in a health advisory form (a couple of years ago), that children should wear snow suits/pants/jackets when the temperature goes below 10 degrees.

In my policy documents and checklists I do ask the parents to leave outdoor play wear appropriate for the season at my daycare for just this sort of eventuality. Admittedly it is a pain to store it all The amount of times that a child has turned up minus a hat or mittens.....and I've only been running for 7 months....lol
