    I'm full!

So I just signed on another one, an infant to start the end of April. So I am at my capacity for now. I do have a 3 day a wk part-time spot but I am not going to fill it right now to allow my 2 new kids to transition in and get myself used to the larger group.

I have actually just experienced "turning away" someone who was inquiring about care. Good feeling I tell you!

Congrats! Wow, that didn't take long, did it? I seem to recall that you were quite worried for a while at the beginning. Well done!

Quick word of advice....keep interviewing the really interested ones and continue developing a wait list....keep it current....just in case. It's a hassle and though it's nice to stop going through that process once you're full, it's prudent to keep it up. I was full, with my last to start Mar 1st. I turned away oodles of people, quite a few of whom said they were definitely very interested. The new client had a change of circumstances and left me high and dry. The 3 I had on my list were already gone and I had to start all over. It's fine and I'm very close to filling that spot again BUT.....I cringe when I think about all the people I flat out turned away and didn't even bother to keep contact info. UGH!!!! Just sayin'........

Congrats! That is great! As Cfred mentioned, make sure you keep a list of interested parents to draw from later if you need it. I always put them on my list with all the details I know about them (when they need care for, age of child, etc). I am not sure I would actually interview them since even in Cfred's situation, if she had interviewed other people, they still would have found other care by now. I used to interview interested families even when I was full, but now I just add them to my call-back list.

I keep all emails and when a space suddenly comes up I will send an email to them letting them know. Some reply thanks but we have found care and others never respond. What is also nice doing that is sometimes you get an email for care for 14 month old and the name just stands out even. Since all emails are saved I can go back and see if that family contacted me before and any correspondance I had with them so I have background info before replying. I have found this happens with kids 18m to 2 1/2 where they went with the cheap lady who did nothing - hence the cheap rates which was fine while the child was a baby/toddler but now they are wanting something more and that gets them to thinking about those they interviewed that offered that and they start looking again. I have interviewed a family twice and taken them the second time once the parents had a change of heart and realized they wanted what I was offering and were willing to pay for it.

Great that you are full. It is such a weight off and you can go back to enjoying the whole concept of having a daycare.

Yeah, I hang on to the emails in a folder in my outlook as a wait list. It's funny, I found an email I had missed responding to months a go and contacted them just to apolagize as it was an oversight and she let me know they wanted to meet with me because they weren't happy with their provider. I have 2 babies (mine and one starting end of April) so I referred them to someone else because I don't want another baby right now.

Something must be in the air this week....I'm full now as well! I just had one family sign yesterday and had 2 incredible interviews in the morning. The family I wanted just confirmed via email that they want the spot and are signing Monday. Woo hoo!!!! Just in time for my renovations

    Congrats everyone!
