OMG I am ready to slit my wrists!

How do you people manage the screaming? I am concerned someone might call CAS on me, this kid is a screecher and brutal. How the little boy downstairs is managing is beyond me. I am a floor away and I am ready to jump!

I have a daycare girl who screamed and cried for the first month and a half. I live in a building and was scared someone would call CAS, but when ever I spoke to my neighbors they just laughed and said they understood. I was able to block out a lot of it, but some of it really bothered me. I just kept telling myself that if she didn't stop by XXX date I would terminate. The screaming/crying would start at drop off 7:30 and not end until pick up between 3 and 5:30pm.
I found out that she LOVES Dora, so when she came in I turned on Dora (just one episode) for 3 days and the crying/screaming went from all day to here and there then gone all together. I don't like having the tv on but sometimes you just have to to save your sanity.

Poor yourself a cup of tea and try not to listen (although I know you have to listen for any real trouble). Hopefully your new dcb will settle in soon. If he has never been in daycare and doesn't nap for mom...you may be in for a bit of a fight...but hopefully he will give up sooner than later. I have a new 2 year old starting tomorrow...crossing my fingers she naps well for me

I really feel for you. When the weather is warmer I will sometimes just sit on my front porch for a bit to get away from a screamer. It is really exhausting to listen to and frays the nerves Make your self that tea, sit and perhaps listen to some easy listening music. This to shall pass hopefully.....till then take comfort in the fact we have all been where you are.

Music!!!! I had a screamer too, lasted 6 months. During naptime I would put my ipod on either on the dock and play it throughout the house or use my headphones and just watch the nappers on the monitor.

If she is screaming during playtime/circle time etc try music. My guys all love to dance and jump around and 'sing'. Music is my stress relief so I always try it with the kids too. Some days the music is on in the background for our entire day. Some days we play kids songs other days stuff I want to listen too (monitored of course for swearing etc)

It was honestly the only way I got through it...I wanted to terminate so many times but held on because her family was awesome and they were trying just as hard as I was. It did take forever but she then ended up being one of my favourite daycare kids of all time (not that we have favourites lol). I was sad when she graduated out of my program for school!
