Part timers and napping

So my 2 yo dcb is part time and only comes Tues, Wed each wk. I was worried about the big gap between days in care but it was what the family needed. So far the Tuesdays are horrible for nap (screams the whole 2 hrs) and Wed are great (he remembers what he needs to do and that I won't take him out, goes straight to sleep). By the next week though he has forgotten this and Tues was horrible again and today is great. Will he eventually just "get this" or do you predict my Tuesday will become days I dread?

Can you get his mom on board with your routine so that she keeps it consistent when he is at home? I think that is the only shot at peaceful Tuesdays...but you never know, with time he may get it. Ughhh...this is a good reminder to me of why I no longer provide part-time care. I have two fdamilies going on mat leave around the same time and was toying with the idea of offering them to share the space...but hearing this makes me think twice! I will think longer before throwing it out there as a possibility!

I agree sunnydays; I had 3 full time and 2 part time dck...the part time kids just don't get the chance to get into the routine. It's not fair to kids who come every day, and it certainly isn't worth the headache, and the dread you feel when that day starts and you know your part time dck is coming. not worth it. I gave my partime families notice and got rid of them and quickly replaced with full time. much better all a round money wise and routine wise especially! good luck with him.

IF parents do what you do at home, it will get better. I always have some part timers, and as long as there is not a complete diference between home and your place, he should figure it out. Make sure that nap times and routines are the same at home, otherwise he will take MUCH longer to settle.
