They ate their broccoli!!!! ( happy dance!)

I have been fighting with all my daycare kids about broccoli since forever..... and this morning I decided that I was done, they WILL eat their broccoli!

This morning i took out all of my fun animal planet dinosaurs. they were not supposed to be on rotation for an other 2 weeks... but what the heck! So we played dinosaurs, we learned about what they ate and the fact that they are extinct! then at lunch time..... I have them a big portion of broccoli and said that today, we are dinosaurs and those ( the broccoli) are little trees and we have to eat alll of them because its our favourite food!

Well, they ate all of it and one girl even asked for seconds! Oh yeah!

hahaha kids!!! I have had the ones that eat grasshoppers (green peppers) and my favorite was from a extreme picky eater that used to like eating fish swimming in pink mud (beets soup with fish crackers)

That is so cute! My kids eat broccoli all the time, but the dck's not so much...so I have recently tried melting cheese on it...well MY daughter LOVES it to the point that she could literally eat the whole pot...none of the others touched it...LOL. I will try the dinosaur tactic...can't hurt to try

No Indeed!! ! and really our day is now dinosaur oriented! I'm going to print some drawing off internet or see if there is a fun and easy craft we can do this afternoon

And I have to say, my crew is pretty young... so I can still pull off stuff like that!

Good for you! I tell them the broccoli florets are trees and they have to eat the whole forest and I tell them cauliflower are pretty flowers. Hey, we do what we have to do!

My son eats broccoli very well, but cauliflower not so much. Since we are in the middle of dinosaur theme as well and thanks to your idea I told him that we would be eating trees like dinosaurs, but these trees would be white. He was excited when I was cooking and ate a lot of cauliflower for dinner (he barely touch his pasta that was served as well). He was very playful and telling me he was the 3 dinosaurs he knows how to say... It is so funny! It never occurred to me that cauliflower could be white trees!!! lol

Ahah!! Yay for dinosaurs! I'll have to try it with cauliflowers too! Some eat some, some won't... Hey, if it worked for broccoli, it will most likely work with cauliflowers as well!
