No kids, mat leave over...back to work I guess

I am so disappointed and depressed about this. I have been advertising for months and I've gotten a lot of inquiries but then no follow-throughs. I am either just not in their area, or they go with someone else, or they inquire and then they are never heard from again (even after I send follow ups). Ugh. I am in south London...

I have 2 kids of my own and I will basically be going back to work full-time in order to come home with a $400/month pay check. Not very rewarding. The rest of my money will go to paying daycare for my own kids. We are going to be struggling really bad either way...whether I stay home/or go back we can't afford all our house bills this way.

I was really hoping to get 2 spots filled so we can make ends meet. Looks like it won't happen and we may have to put our home up for sale too

I am due back to work in 5 weeks and I'm dreading it.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have anyone to watch your kids part-time to offset the costs?

I am sorry to hear that venusrockstar. My area is very slow too. People prefer to go with live in nannies or daycare centers before considering a home daycare. My next 2 spots will be filled in June and both could not find a place in a daycare center. I have been putting my add on since November and both families just sign their contracts a few weeks ago. I have been close to 6 years in this business and to even get interviews usually takes some time. Have you considered to start with an Agency. I started with one the first year. Even they took a substantial part of my money they brought me clients and opened the door for the future ones that I got myself.

Oh Venus, I'm so sad for your troubles and I know you are in a part of the city that has so much competition. I wish I could help you more. It's so hard to get started, network network network!

Venusrockstar it's very slow in my area as well. I'm located in london as well, Westmount area to be exact, and I have been adverstiesing for months with only a few hits that don't turn out. Hopefully the summer months pick back up for interviews.
Sorry to hear that you will have to leave your kiddies to go back to work. That's the worst feeling in the world fingers crossed you can find a few clients before.
    Good luck!!
