    Spin off to copying ad....

Do you ever feel like contacting people who have really terrible ads???? I get a good chuckle out of reading the ads for my area, which has a zillion daycares. People post things like "I can stay home if I take in a couple of kids"!!!

Strangely the good daycares are full and these other ads are reposted daily!

The ads do make for interesting reading for sure. I have wondered the same thing - is there a tactful way to tell someone they might be losing contacts because of how their ad looks or what it says. At the same time if the person is in my area well ....then all the better for me.

I agree...terrible ads make us look better without even trying! There are several of us in the neighborhood that are full, and many that advertise everyday. It worries me a bit what parents that are currently looking for care think about what's available but hope it will make it easier for me if I have a spot become available!

well, my friend is a provider. Omg, you should read her ads, they are so bad. I even redid ads for her so they made sense. But she rarely uses them, and then she can't figure out why no one calls her. I just want to say "well if your ad made sense they would contact you" Or she will post weird pictures up, that even make me go hmmm.

Oh yes, I relate to this too! I sometimes want to contact them, especially if they're not in my immediate area and are not my competition (lol), and offer some suggestions, but I worry that they would just see me as a know-it-all and tell me to mind my own beeswax while continuing to do their own (ineffective) thing anyway.

Oh ladies, thank you, because I'm a stickler for spelling and grammar but I'm not perfect either. It bothers me so much when I read an ad with obvious typos or misspelled words. Proofreading is important.

Yes! Not only the lack of info or creativity in some ads, but the terrible spelling and grammar! Of course we all make the occasional error or typo, and in forum messages or emails and the like, not a big deal... but in our ads, our website, our contracts and paperwork we give to clients? A little proofreading and spell-check goes a long way! The way I see it is, if I were a parent looking at these ads with such poor spelling and grammar, I would see it as carelessness, and assume that the provider might be careless in other ways as well, which could potentially endanger my child.

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
