    New child, he's Dutch

So I have a new little 3 yo, only with me for 2 mos while his parents are here for work. He is awesome! Sometimes I couldn't understand him and thought he was just speaking in unclear English, only to realize he was speaking to me in fluent Dutch! He came for half a day todat, adjusted great and the parents are very cool as well. Will be with me 3 days per week. We will see how naps go on Thursday!

Ahhhh I want him! I am Dutch and very rarely get to speak it as Dutch folks who immigrate always speak the language of their new country. You could go on the online translater and pick up a few easy phrases. Most Dutch people speak english anyway, so I am sure he has been exposed to it through television and radio. He may leave you speaking english.

He does understand English, doesn't he? I know the Dutch all learn English but maybe they only speak Dutch at home? I have a bilingual 1 year old at my daycare and they only speak French at home. He learned English here at daycare. It's funny that when his parents arrive he automatically slips back into French. Remind your little dcboy to speak English at daycare and I'm sure he'll figure it out soon enough.
