In Alberta, you are allowed 6 plus your own. I believe the cut off for counting was age 12. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. So if they are YOUR children that are school agers, no, they don't count. If they are other people's school agers and therefore daycare children, then up to age 12 they count. Make sense?
ETA: This is for private dayhomes. In agency dayhomes, you are allowed 6 including your own up to age 12 (with the 3 under 3 and 2 under 2 ratios enforced. So school agers would count there up to age 12 even if they were your own).
