    Question Ratio question again!! Lol

I talked to someone last weekend about daycare.. And they told me school age children do not count in ratioes.. Is there any truth to this?? Or does it only apply to liscensed places?? Kind of confused now?

In Alberta, you are allowed 6 plus your own. I believe the cut off for counting was age 12. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. So if they are YOUR children that are school agers, no, they don't count. If they are other people's school agers and therefore daycare children, then up to age 12 they count. Make sense?

ETA: This is for private dayhomes. In agency dayhomes, you are allowed 6 including your own up to age 12 (with the 3 under 3 and 2 under 2 ratios enforced. So school agers would count there up to age 12 even if they were your own).

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
