    Vacation days

I've never had this happen before but what do you do if you have booked vacation days and a dck decides to book their vacation same time as you? I allow each child 10 vacation days at 50% while I have 10 days as well but mine are paid. How should I charge this family?? Thanks

First off, you shouldn't be giving them any "free" time off. You should make them pay if they take vacation time. The way I do it is they pay if I am here. period. If I take time off then they don't pay but I expect them to pay for every other day of the year regardless of attendance.

In this case, I would still expect the 50% pay from them.

    I allow full-time families 5 days at 50%.

Those 5 days CANNOT be used during my vacation time or days off.

For clients that are less than full time or use less than 5 days per week, they pay 52 weeks a year regardless of absent or closed days.

Won't it be nice if you can tell them that they have to pay not only for your vacation days and the 50% off for their vacation days. That would be a nice pay day.

I agree with Judy~ no free days and charge then the 50% for their vacation

My daycare parents only pay if I am here and available to work. I have had two families ask when I am taking vacation so that they can take theirs at the same time. I will not be charging them for their vacation this year, since it falls on the week where I am not open.

If parents take off the same weeks as me they don't pay. But it balances out as I also give a reduced rate for vacation days but it means parent has used their days so you will be getting full pay for all the other days. In a sense they lose their half rate dates by taking vacation when you do. I also give parents some half pay days in the summer.

Ok, I've said this many times but I choose my vacation weeks for the next year and give a letter to the parents in Dec. so they can book off the same weeks. Besides my 3 weeks unpaid vacation the parents pay full fees for the other 49 weeks of the year. They pay for stats, sick days, any other days they take off for any reason. I'm open so I should be paid.
