Actually a lot of parents will pull this stunt - rather than call in sick they bring the kid to daycare or school and hope they make it through the day and then if they get the call most bosses will say ok go. The parent goes to work and gets the important stuff done and out of the way in preparation for the call. This can go on all week with mom not actually taking a day off work and usually not penalized for leaving early to tend to a sick kid. Works fine in mom's eyes till the caregiver gets sick and closes.
