Little boy wont play with girls

I have a little boy that comes to my house that has recently stopped playing with the girls. Saying they want to play "girly stuff". It is to the point that if one of the girls starts to play with the boys he will walk away. I am unsure what to do. I have mostly boys that come to my house the only girls are my daughter and one other. When it was said that he just didn't want to play "girly stuff" I figured it was just time to think outside the box and come up with stuff that he wouldn't find girly. The other day it was playing with foam light sabers though, when my daughter started playing with them the other boys were fine with it, but he dropped his light saber and walked away until she came to me crying. As soon as she left the game he was back in there. Its not "girly stuff" its "girls". I have never had this problem before. I don't know what to do. I am fine with not wanting to play certain things but not okay with being mean. It happens everyday now.

Well, first of all, that's very rude behaviour on the part of the boy and I'd be talking to him about it one on one and trying to figure out what he doesn't like about girls. Then I'd be having a talk with his parents. Does his Dad say chauvinistic things about girls/women? Who knows? But if you dig into the problem hope you can figure it out. I would keep encouraging the little boy to play with the girls and I think you're on the right track by getting the boys and girls to play the same games without gender differences.

I have always had the little boys play tea party and dress up and I get the girls to play cars and sports, I'll be interested to know what you figure out.

Does he have an older brother or maybe an extended bigger boy family member feeding him ideas? Boys don't usually seem to care much about this stuff unless they've suddenly found out they're not "cool" if they play with girls. Hopefully the parents will also be concerned and work with you to get to the root of the matter. Good luck!

He does have an older brother and that was my thought as well. Being teased.
