It doesn't say anything on how or what changes the ministry is trying to make though.......nothing at all............Is anyone else signing this?

Just wondering. And thinking it might be smart to sign a petition that had a more clear purpose or reason.........am I missing something?????? Is there a link to click on that would tell me exactly what I am signing for or against?

I too was wishing it contained more (any) details on the changes that could take place, and the impact it could have on both providers and parents.

If you click on the underlined word petition it opens up a page that says:

"Recently, it has come to my attention that the Ministry of Education of Ontario (MOE) is planning to decrease the current incentives in place for independent care givers.

Additionally, licensed agencies are lobbying with the MOE to restrict the number of children that independent care givers are allowed to care for. If these propositions are implemented, they are not only jeopardizing my business, but also present a setback to independent home day care.

I am a dedicated, educated caregiver who seeks out training and resources in the community. As you may know, over 80% of Ontario’s children needing child care spend their time in an independent caregiver’s home.

I need your help to lobby against the licensed sector's suggestion to the Ministry of Education for restricting the number of children we are allowed to care from 5 to 4 and the MOE's plan to decrease the incentives for independent care givers.

Caregivers are the front line workers who lay the foundation of the future generation. We should instead be encouraged to work more, and with improved incentives, rather than restricted and discouraged. I look forward to your support."
