Question about a 3-5 day a week schedule...

I have someone inquiring for daycare anywhere from 3-5 days a week. Some weeks it would be 3 days and others it would be 5 days.

How do you go about writing up a contract for that?

What kind of rate do you charge? Flat rate for the week regardless of days, or does the rate differ each week depending on how many days they are there? I am trying to figure out what to do/charge in this situation.

    Thanks!

I charge $40 a day for 3 days, $35 a day if they come for 4 or 5 days. In this case, they would pay a guaranteed $120 a week for 3 days, but I would only charge them an additional $35 per day for days 4 and 5. I would not give them the $35 rate for the first 3 days even in a week where they come 4 or 5 days, because those are extra days that are not guaranteed?

Personally, I would charge full-time as the child would be using a full-time spot since you cannot fill the spot on the days he/she is not there. But I guess it depends on how hard it is for you to fill spots and how flexible you want to be on this.

I would charge full time too, but if you really need this family now for your business I will do one of this two options:

    - ask for 1 month calendar to charge accordingly in advance and be able to budget

    - or if parents are not sure when they will need 3 days in a week I will charge full time and I will reimburse the days not used every month or whatever time frame works for you.

My part time rate is $5/day higher then my full time .... I would give the parent two options .... 1) pay the full time rate and she is welcome to bring the child all the days or keep him home for those two days of that one week or 2) pay the part time fee (for all days not just the 3 day week) and she is not able to bring him on those two days.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
