Hey all! I will be the first to admit that quiet time has been slowly descending into "put the TV on for 2 hours". Under 3 still nap, and I have a 3 1/2 year old that naps like a champ, but when my other 3 year old is here she will not sleep. On rare occasions, she will lay down on the couch for an hour or so, but we have slipped into a routine of letting her and my daughter alternate which video we put on the DVD player.
I need some help! This is not what quiet time should be, if it was up to me.
So I have been gathering various activities that are calm and quiet, and putting them into what I will call the "Quiet Cupboard". My plan is to have them lay down for AT LEAST a half hour with no TV, etc. If they are sleepy, they should fall asleep then. When the half hour is done, they can do something in the Quiet Bin. I will rotate out the activities, so they are different each week.
But; do I put together a bin for each child? Do I let them all share the bin? The activities are all individual games and such, so as not to encourage "group" play.
I will have more children in the fall, and I would like to ensure that quiet time is just that. QUIET!!
