Not rude to ask. I had one family tell me last week that they're taking this week off. I don't care though, because they pay me anyway. I planned special things this week, but did it on the fly. I have two days this week where I only have one kid! I took her swimming yesterday with my own kids, and tomorrow, I think we're going to the zoo.

I would totally ask, though. Not rude at all. I say, "oh hi dcp. I am just updating my summer schedule and am wondering whether you're planning on taking vacation".

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
