Do parents have to inform us if their child has hepatitis or hiv positive?

I'm thinking of contagious diseases that can be passed through fluids....since kids tend to put things in their mouth. No matter how we try to keep track of what needs to be sanitized, it's hard to really keep track of everything.

Have you experienced any scenarios like this?

No but I have always worried about it. I would think it would come up in the interview in the sense that the child also needs to be careful of their germ exposure as their system is compromised.

I have worked with a lot of HIV pos. kids but in the US at least- parents do not have to disclose the HIV status of a child. HIV at least, is fairly difficult to contract- in the sense that is not airborne and is not spread through casual contact. In fact a lot of health agencies here are classifying it as a chronic rather than a fatal illness now.
