We have been trying for 3 weeks straight and I have my cycle start this Friday. Praying that it won't come! Scared too as I hear there is a slim chance of conceiving naturally at my age!

I'm 36. I am also still nursing my 16 month old 3-4 times a day. We basically haven't been using anything since he was born. I have had 2 miscarriages previous to this pregnancy at the 5-6 week point.
    Good luck!!!

Hi im checking in here late ..... I have 5 kids also .... My fourth born a week before I turned 40 and my 5th when I was closer to 42. The key is knowing exactly when you ovulate because at this age the egg is only viable for one day versus 4 or 5 days when you are in your twenties so your window of opportunity is very slim. Also make sure your husband is not going in hot tubs. You need to pin point when you ovulate also because having sex everyday depletes the amount of sperm it's better to have it every other day. If your taking your temperature then the day your temp goes up its too late. I did not know this when I was trying and thought it was the day to try. Hope this helps. Good luck

All my families know we are trying. I warned them before so I could be prepared with reactions and not have to worry myself (more) sick bout whether I'll lose my clients. All 5 families are uber excited for me. THANK GOD!!!!

They all breathed a sigh of relief when I said I was going to employ someone to take over the daycare while I take a few months to relax and snuggle with whomever comes along.

I'm sure I'll be ok with the tiredness and morning sickness. I've worked through unimaginable diseases since starting the daycare

    I hope so too.

hey to the ladies trying. I bought the pee sticks to test for ovulation and tested for a few months. then we had sex the day before I ovulated. I'm hoping that works. we'll check in a few weeks I guess. EEEEEEEE

I'm hiring full time after two weeks off. I figured that since I don't get the whole year off. I can at least supervise for 4 or five months and then go back. I can come and go as I please, keep my business, and keep and eye on things for my parents (and for my own piece of mind) I'm thinking it'll be a great start for a new ECE graduate. If I do get pregnant this time (and it sticks - had a disappointment the month before last and took a break) and I shouldn't have too much trouble. I could start them as soon as they graduate since I'll be only a month from due date and be too big to do some of the really fun stuff.

wow . . . I got this all planned out. Hope I'm not disappointed again.

Just some info for ladies that are trying without success. You can get referral to a fertility clinic after you've been trying for a yr unsuccessfully (they don't know so you can stretch the truth) they may do it sooner if you are reaching the later childbearing years. It is completely free. I did this when trying for my first as we were not having much luck. It is a huge commitment though. You go in and get daily blood and urine tests (they had very early clinic hours so you could go before work) around your ovulation cycle so they can determine when you should get busy. I got pregnant just with this. They also connected me with a specialist (rheumatolgy and pregnancy) who also helped get me on better medication for my illness that didn't effect getting pregnant.

There are other low cost options as well including (don't remember what it is called) injecting semen inside with essentially a turkey baster to help the little guys out (this was around $300 I think)...might speed things up for those of us watching the clock!

I thought I'd chime in. I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd. It took 2 years ttc with my first- found out after going to the fertility clinic I didn't ovulate, even though I was having regular periods. got put on clomid to conceive and within 2 months I was pregnant

the recommendation from the fertility clinic was from days 9-21 of my cycle to have sex every other day. any more than that wouldn't give the good sperm enough time to rebuild.

We were able to get on the medication right away and conceived in 2 months again =) good luck ladies. I forgot how exhausting this was.

Congratulations to you!!! I had my #2 a year ago this Sept 16! I had children in my care my entire pregnancy except for the last two months. I would have went longer with the kids, but worked out that we were moving into our first house so I had to close at that time anyway and just stayed off. I think the best thing you can do is to be up front and honest with the parents. I had amazing clients and they were always worried about me! They were great with the time off I needed for the never ending doctors appointments as well. I also did the nap on the couch thing while kids were sleeping...I think this is what kept me going. I had all day sickness for a while and definitely wasn't my usual high energy self, but I found being up front with the parents eased my guilt. Good luck and enjoy as much as possible.
