A New Experience . . .
Today I had a child do something I've never experienced before working with children. I responded to an alarming cry from a 4 year old during nap time. She had taken her bret out of her hair and clipped something else with it . . .
Where do you think that bret was clipped?
Whoever guesses right gets a pat on the back . . .

Oh I can guess - having worked with that age group for years - but I am not printing it out on line
Children construct their own intelligence. The adult must provide activities and context, but most of all must be able to listen. Children need proof that adults believe in them. Their three great desires are to be listened to, to understand, and to demonstrate that they are exactly what we expect."

One of those things where you wish you could take a picture to support the injury but just know that would be so out of line. The verbal explanation will be bad enough - although at the age you should be able to get the child to tell the mom with prompting like what did your barrette do at naptime - did it hurt you - show mommy where .....
Barrettes, hair elastics, hair bands, socks for infants - had a baby almost choke once after stuffing it in their mouth, belts, sweaters that button and any jewelry are all removed at naptime one for safety and one for limiting playtime.
No one can ever say our job is dull and routine.
