If you connect with one of the Early Years centres in your area they will be able to put you in touch with the right information or who to contact to get the information.
Unless your town has additional restrictions most of Ontario follows the following rules: you can have 5 children under age 10 and do not have to count your own in that total. You may not ever even for a few minutes have more than 5 daycare children even if you have a helper. You can do daycare wherever in your home you wish provided you have taken safety and comfort into consideration such as escape routes, natural light from windows, plenty of ceiling lights, etc.
What is confusing is that your home has a daycare but it is not a daycare centre and there are different rules for a daycare centre (anything with more than 5 children in care needs to follow centre rules).
Another option would be to contact a daycare agency and they will help you set up your home for daycare. There are additional restrictions in terms of ages mix of the children in care but they will give the support you need to get started in daycare.
