No pull up for naptime

What are your factors in decided if a child can go without a pull up for nap time?

I know the obvious is several dry naps. However, I have a child that has had several dry naps and we're just about to say goodbye to the pull ups then an accident.

I want to say that I need to know the child will ask to go to the bathroom while in nap time, but is that too much to ask?

I've spent a lot of time and energy teaching these kids that nap time is quiet time and no one gets up until I come and get them. Is it biting me in the butt now?

there is no reason you can't keep the pull-up on for nap for awhile longer. Even just put it over their pants. what about putting a towel and garbage bag underneath the child's bedding? If you don't feel comfortable with the child being without yet then I say don't.

I made that mistake once too and it was a disaster. I just started putting the pull-up on over the child's pants until I was sure the child would no longer have any accidents.

One child went without a pull up for nap at home for probably a good month or so before I let her go here without one. One reason was the obvious, I didn't want my playpen ruined and another reason was that I was just using up her diapers that she had here. She is not ready to be on a cot yet so I am hesitant to do that but I also think it's unfair to have her in a playpen in case she needs to go. I have a video baby monitor in the naproom so I watch for her in case she needs to get out and use the toilet.

I put two garbage bags around the mattress of the playpen and then the sheet to hold them. Then I have a blanket on top of that tucked in that she can not move, acts like another sheet. So far no accidents, but hopefully if there is one (and I'm sure there will be at some point, either with her or another child) it will be contained and not ruin the playpen. And if it does....annoying yes but not the end of the world. It comes with the job.

I would recommend using those BedMates ( I think that's what they're called?) I use them for my own kids on their bed. It's like a giant flat diaper that absorbs accidents. They work really well. I out them under their sheets. You can find then in the pull ups section, although I'm thinking maybe parents should supply them?
