This is a pet peeve of mine. I wish parents wouldn't do everything for their children and realize their potential. Start showing him how to do it, encourage him, get him to try at least a few times before you give him some help. Continue to let him do it on his own everyday. Maybe tell mom that you have been working on him pulling up his own pants after potty time. hint hint - maybe she should be working on it at home.

I had a family actually ask me if I could dress their 4 year old to go outside. Their daughter was capable of getting dressed. I told mom that she can do it and I will help her if she needs. I never had to. I made a big deal of it when mom picked up and said to the girl "Go tell Mommy that you got dressed all by yourself today"! she was so excited to tell mom. Mom actually started getting her to do it herself after that.
