A vent about parent's safety (or lack thereof)
I have rules in my contract about safety issues for parents like no letting your vehicle idle in the driveway, don't leave kids in the car, not to let the kids touch my vehicles, not to block my driveway and specifically- if you have to park on the road, park in front of the house next door, or on the side of my corner house, where there is room for 6 cars to park- don't park on the corner. In order for parents not to block my driveway, they will park on the corner. I have mentioned it to all parents, but one still parks on that corner.
Yesterday, it snowed tons, and the plow came by and blocked my driveway. DCgirl was the last child and her mom was due any minute so i got her dressed to come outside with me to shovel the snow. Mom shows up and parks on that corner. As she is getting back in her car, a car comes around the corner and honks at her. DCmom mumbles to herself something like 'Didn't you see me, I have have my hazard lights on! Don't honk at me.' So i said to her "see, that's why i am not comfortable with anyone parking there'. Then she laughed when that other car got stuck in the snow. As she goes to put the DCgirl in the car, I saw that her other kid was in the car. So i said 'Ok, I can't have anyone park there anymore' and I pointed out the spots where she CAN park.
OMG, what if that car hit her car! The kid would have been injured! Besides, do you not remember reading that part in my contract! I hate when parents 'forget' the rules you have set out.
