Crying = Rash?

So some of you may remember that last month I had a dkp pull her son after his first full day due to a death in the immediate family.

Well he is back today as his first half day. And he his my screamer. He has sever attachment issues. He came in screaming, so I tried to give him breakfast. No go. Just sat there and screamed. I put him down for a nap, as his mom said that he was tired and she has to wake him up in the morning. After 30 minutes of screaming, he passed up. I let him sleep for an hour as his mom lets me that he is on 2 30 minutes, and I would rather him sleep in the afternoon with the other children for longer.

After I wake him up and bring him down stairs, we all sit down for circle time, and play race cars. He continues to scream. If I stand up, he screams louder and clings to my leg.

I have just finished up snack time with everyone and before he even touched his food, I noticed that his cheeks, nose and mouth area now are covered with red spots. I did not notice it earlier. And think that it may be due to the constant screaming. What do you think? Have you had a child break out in rash due to screaming?

I think that the redness is from the screaming/crying. See how he is in another hour or so if its still there.

Personally when I have a child so upset like that I have 2 choices: place them in a playpen in another room OR call the parents to come and pick up. Usually I choose the first option. I had a little girl who screamed the entire 4 weeks she lasted here before I termed her. She also SLEPT all day long no joke.

I had a little girl who would rash up on the face if and when she cried hard enough. At first I worried but when I told the Mom she said she always rashes like that if she cries hard.

I agree, the redness/rash could be from all that crying, the tears and snot. Think of it this way- if the child is constantly crying, you be constantly wiping their face/nose, right? Some kids are more sensitive than others, and although Kleenex is generally soft, all it takes is a few good wipes before your nose goes red. I also find that the skin of some really fair kids tends to go red and blotchy when they cry, especially when they cry excessively.
