    Invoices for clients

What are the legalities regarding invoices for clients? Is it acceptable to email an invoice, or should they receive a signed copy? This is my first time around issuing invoices for taxes

I give all my families a signed hard copy but I know of other providers that do email them. I think email is fine.

I also give all my families a signed original and I keep the copy. Businesses invoice via email all the time though so I, like torontokids, think it is fine also.

I don't think it matters. You just have to be giving one out. But, one word of advice.....parents are notorious for losing the invoices/receipts and asking for an additional one. If you issue an additional invoice be sure to write (or type) the word "duplicate" on it so they can not submit more than one invoice and make it appear you were paid more than you were.

Also, make sure your accountant knows it's a duplicate!! I had one enter it twice but luckily I noticed.

CRA requires a signature on all receipts. For more information on what CRA's daycare receipts guidelines are, visit their website: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tp...rcpts-eng.html

    Hope this helps!
