I think there may be some possible issues that the parents would run into if they were audited. I had a family of siblings who were audited and they were requested to supply receipts for each individual child. If other providers haven't run into any issues, I would hazard a guess that it is simply because the parent has not been audited. Also anyone can be audited without every aspect of their return being put under the spotlight.

As far as more work is concerned, I can't understand why!?? If both siblings were coming same days, same hours its simply a case of 50% unless there were sick days when one came and not the other and an extra minute to substitute the name change and dollar amount. In your case momofnerds, you would have to keep track of "daycare days" per child for your own tax claim anyway so surely you have kept a record of the b&a childs attendance and also the full timer seperatly. You would need to do this in order to work out accurately for your tax return. I have cared for lots of siblings and have always given separate receipts and put their names on it and really, its as simple as an extra 10 minutes of work. As long as my record keeping, weekly, monthly and annually is well done, then its a few minutes of clicking on the trusty calculator and hey presto its done and its a synch. Now when I didn't keep good records of attendance, then it was a much more gruelling task.
