I usually just let it roll off my back and laugh inside but if a parent says it too often or with a snotty attitude I will say something like " oh suzy, you have so much fun here with jack and jill!! You wouldn't want to stay home and miss out on all the fun would you?" It usually works every time and the child says bye to mom and runs to find her friends.
I have had a few kids who refuse to go home at the end of the day, even after the parent say's "ok, I'm leaving. You will have to stay here." For some parents, it hurts to know that after 8+ hours away from mom/dad, their child would rather stay with their dcp instead of rushing into their arms, begging to get away from the dcp LOL Of course it's a good sign that your child loves their dc but at the same time, I can see why some parents are hurt by this.
