That is so not cool!! Yes a text saying payment is due today not next week is a must. My contract says that failure to follow my contract could result in termination of care. Does your say something similar? If not you definitely need to put it in there. I also implement a late payment fee. Payday is every 2nd Friday at drop off! Late payment fee of $15 begins Friday at NOON and continues to accumulate every day after that. They also cannot return to daycare on Monday until payment is made. Once a parent has to pay it once then they never do it again. To me this tells parents I mean business.

Also worth considering and possibly mentioning to the parents that should they try this again payment will be due in cash.

Yes my contract says payment is due on the first day of care for that week, I also have late fees and that failure to pay will result in your child not be welcomed back until all fees are paid up. I also have something about being terminated for repeated late fees etc..

I sent a straight to the point text letting them know the cheque was post dated for Saturday and at pick up I would require a new cheque dated for today. They msgd back apologizing saying that they would provide a new one. Perhaps they mixed up their days but I doubt that b/c on the cheque it states for care from 18-20th. Hmmmm.... I believe they just wanted to see if I would say anything, too bad I'm not a push over.

Guess they don't realize we work with toddlers all day...we know how to stand firm on limits no matter how many times and ways they test the limits!

That is good! Yes some parents like to try and push their limits. Too bad if they don't want to pay in advance, that is the rules!

Although it sounds like they were trying it on with you, lets hope it was just an honest mistake and that nothing else will come up in the future

LOL lee-bee, brightsparks...I'm hoping it was a mistake as well I spoke with my sister who still cares for the other twin and she said they have always been good with payments, never late, dated for the last day of care etc.

I just wanted to make sure that I nipped this in the bud ASAP in case they were trying to pull a fast one over me.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
