    If you don't mind sharing....

I'm curious as to what some of you pay an accountant who does your taxes? I have a lovely uncle who does mine and refuses payment. I want to purchase a gift card for him and my aunt to enjoy a nice dinner together, but I have no idea how much I should spend! I must say he did a lovely job this past year and I didn't owe anything and got a nice sum back for my hubby

Mine was $165 for both the business/personal for me and for my husband. My accountant is on the low side though from talking to others. I think $100-150 would be a good amount.

I'm in MB so prices will likely be different. When I had it done at H&R Block it was $250. I have used a private lady the past 2 years (she actually used to work for H&R block but now she teaches accounting) and I pay her $60.

I'm pretty sure you should always pay something, maybe not tax, but always CPP contributions. I have had numerous years of paying zero tax but always CPP except the year I set up, but I used H&R Block the first year who from my experience and from what I have heard from local providers are notorious for missing things when filing a home daycare return, so that may very well have been in error. It's so long ago now thought that I can't imagine it coming back to be a problem for me.

When we used to go to our tax preparer, she charged us $100 for both mine and my hubby's. That was on the low end. I think she normally charged $100/per and $150/business + personal.

Now we go to a chartered accountant b/c of my hubby's business so I have no idea what it costs as he does our personal taxes along with our businesses.

We, too, always get a lump sum back.
