    Cranky after nap

Need advice about my own 2 year old daughter - she wakes up super moody and clingy almost every time she wakes up from her nap. It doesn't seem to matter how long she sleeps.

This is really draining me and stressing me out because of all the other kids in the house. All she wants is to cuddle with me and most times that is impossible. I don't carry her around during the day usually, I weaned her off that long ago.

She will usually refuse anything to eat or drink anything. Sometimes a cartoon will work to distract her until she is out of her funk, but I don't like having to do that everyday (or don't have time for that).

Any advice, or do I just have wait it out? I really can't remember what my older daughter was like at this age.

How long does usually want to cuddle for? Is it an option to get her up first and have some cuddle time before waking the others?

Yes my daughter had a phase like that so I woke her before the others and just cuddled with a cartoon on. The phase have past but I still do it once in a while ... it's nice to have that moment. I find even if you are home with your child running a daycare you don't really get to spend one on one time with them.

Does she wake on her own or are you waking her? I've know n some kids that wake as bears and what has worked is slowllllyyyy waking them. So start by opening their door a good half hour before you want them up. Then turn on the light. Then make some noise. Just slowly bring them out of sleep so it's not a sudden wake up.

For kids (people) who just are slow-wakers it is really, really hard to wake and be happy with a rowdy bunch of kids around you.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I will just have to make sure I have time for her to get her cuddle time when she needs it. It is frustrating sometimes that I partially opened my daycare so I could stay home with my kids and then not be able to give them the time that they need. But that is life!

She wakes on her own and comes out of her bedroom when she is ready.
