    Nap time

I am new to offering care. I have only had a couple of clients previously. One mom contacted me recently, and things seem pretty good. However, she said that she still lays with her 3 yo to get him to sleep in the afternoon. She feels that he definitely still needs a nap. I would not be able to lay with a child for nap time (even my own) while caring for the rest.

How would you approach this?my thought is to just teach him to have quiet time, and if he is really tired, I would think he will learn to put himself to sleep. Is this wishful thinking? Any advice?

    Thanks

Tell mom that you do not lay with children to get them to nap and that they must be able to fall asleep on their own and not disrupt the other children during nap time. This would be a red flag for me. At 3 there is no reason the child still needs mommy! Give them a shot but tell mom she needs to cut it out at home as well.

Maybe offer her a 2 week trial period to see if the child can adjust.
