    Bedtime for 1 yr olds

Any opinions out there about what would be an appropriate bedtime for a 1 yr old?
I made a suggestion to a parent that the child was lacking sleep, after I learned the child was going to bed about 3 hrs later than I imagined. My suggestion was 730-8pm as a suitable time. What do you think? I would expect a child that age to sleep at least 10-12hrs a night, and maybe another 2 hr nap during the day. Am I off base here? This child is sleeping less than I do at night, which might explain the moods and crankiness. I think the parents thought I was nuts, and took offence to my suggestion. Thoughts?????

A couple guidelines that you may want to send to the parents depending on your relationship with them. Of course every child will be different though!

I used to put mine down at 6:30 but I didn't work , parents like to have some time with their child (at least some do !) I feel for them !! I would prob put mine to bed later too if I worked ! My six yr old is in bed at 7 and we read until 7:30 , she will sleep until 7:30-8 the next day .

My 2.5 year old goes to bed between 730 and 8 and sleeps until 730. Her nap is 1.5 - 2 hours each day. I couldn't imagine putting her to bed any later. She gets so moody if she doesn't sleep that long.

A few tips...

Always ensure that your child receives quality care by taking the time to investigate the provider and by asking for references! We simply cannot verify the claims of every daycare provider.
Updates
We expect providers to keep their listing and available openings up-to-date. However, to prevent oversights, openings expire after 45 days.
