I have a little guy who just turned two. He has taken to unzipping his sleep sack and climbing out of the playpen. He has done this repeatedly over the last few weeks.
I have tried a few things. Not putting him in the sleep sack (he repeatedly climbs out). Putting him on the floor on a mat in the sleep sack, which he takes off and the has a jolly time exploring my bedroom in the dark. Staying with him until he falls asleep without the sleep sack on the floor, which is ok, he falls asleep in about 10-15 minutes. But it seems that when he falls asleep on the floor, he wakes up after about one hour and then does the same with taking off the sleep sack and exploring quietly.
I had the idea of using a safety pin to pin the sleep sack closed. I'm just concerned about it being a safety issue if he could actually open the pin and poke himself.
When in the sleep sack and playpen he usually naps at least two hours.
At home he has never used a sleep sack and is a terrible napper on the weekends.
IMO he is too young to sleep on a mat.
Any ideas or suggestions?
