Starting to feel at home...
Banking days
Hi
Looking to see what other DCP "rules" are for when parents stay home with a sick child, do you bank that day, give up your days pay or get paid regardless. My rules state I am paid regardless of reason that the dkc is not here, sick, mom or dad books off to take them somewhere, grandma decides she wants them for the day, etc. I have a mom questioning me if I can bank a day as her child will not be here today since he's feeling under the weather. She knows my rules and is questioning hoping I will say yes to the banked day. Just curious what others rules are in regards to these types of scenarios.

They pay for their regularly scheduled weekdays, regardless of what their attendance is, or regardless of the reason why they are absent. Stick to your guns! You'd lose alot of money if you didn't get paid when kids were ill/on vacation etc.

Here, they pay for the days reserved for them, regardless of attendance.
It was only recently I'd even heard about banked days - like you, it was a local provider who had been asked by a parent and was wondering if it was common place.
Here, it doesn't seem to be. Afterall, can you imagine if grandparents came here for Christmas for three weeks and wanted to see/look after the grandchildren, and we had to bank/provide credit for those days. Heck no.

NO NO NO NO!! LOL
They are paying for the spot whether they use it or not. If you are open you charge end of story. Drives me nuts when parents try and get out of paying for days their child is sick/away.

No banking days with me. They stay home if they're sick, but their spot is still their spot. They pay for it.

Yes that is my thinking and what is in my contract....just wish families did not always question hoping to guilt you into not making them pay I messaged the mom back and explained that as per my contract, I do not allow banked days and spots that are booked are paid for regardless of the reason...I have not had any response so I'm sure she's not happy, but rules are rules, I'm sure they wouldn't allow certain things to happen in their job.

That's how I lost a family with twins , she was upset I wouldn't refund two days or give her a credit on the next month , even though I had a contract stating I am paid a monthly fee not a daily fee and had given her a rate discount ( my own choice to help her out ) so with 4 days until my next months rate was due she quit , thru text , so grown up !!

Funny how they expect the contract to be flexible in their favour but I bet, if you said to the same parent that no lunch would be provided today because you hadn't got to the grocery store, then they'd soon have something to say.
